Pre-Employment Transition Services
(Pre-ETS)

JOTS is recognized by the Texas Workforce Commission as a certified provider of Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS), designed to assist high school students with disabilities, along with their families, educational institutions, and community service providers. Pre-ETS is aimed at supporting students and young individuals aged 14 to 21 in planning and preparing for their future careers.

 

Whether you are currently in high school or have recently graduated, this service is designed to give you a head start in exploring career paths and preparing for the transition into adulthood. The services are customized to meet your specific goals and provide the necessary support, taking into account your personal experiences, any mental health challenges and their impacts, your work history (if applicable), and your current skills and strengths.

Our Pre-ETS services equip youth with the essential knowledge to make informed decisions about your future and develop the skills needed to pursue a career.

Our goal is to equip young individuals with disabilities for successful transition into the workforce.

About Us

John’s career has been shaped by his dedication to fostering community well-being and supporting career development. At Workforce Solutions of Central Texas, he was recognized as an Apprentice as a Workforce Development Professional through the U.S. Department of Labor—a testament to his growing expertise, especially in aiding students in PRE-ETS. This experience equipped him to work effectively with students in Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS), empowering young individuals to pursue their aspirations.

With experience spanning social services and criminal justice, John has contributed to youth development initiatives at Communities in Schools guiding young

people toward their potential. His work in juvenile services as a Detention Officer and with the Jefferson County Juvenile Probation Department deepened his understanding of youth care and support.

John also spent eight years with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Parole Division, gaining insights into adult reintegration. His entrepreneurial venture, JRL Contract Social Services, focused on serving vulnerable populations, including children with disabilities, seniors, and high-risk expectant mothers.

Self-Advocacy

Empower participants with knowledge and skills for self-advocacy, ensuring they can effectively communicate their needs and rights in educational and employment contexts.

Counseling on Postsecondary Educational Programs  

Counseling on opportunities for post-secondary education provides information on the variety of options available to students after graduation including colleges, universities, and other training opportunities.

Workplace Readiness Training

Workplace readiness training equips students with disabilities with essential skills and conduct applicable to various employment settings. This training encompasses soft skills, employability capabilities, and job-preparation techniques. It also aids students in comprehending the social norms and expectations within a professional environment.
